If I choose adoption, what are my rights?
Will I ever get to see my child?
Will my child be taken care of?
Adoption is very common and an option considered by many women who face unplanned pregnancy. In 2012 there were nearly 2 million children adopted according to the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
If you are considering adoption, we know you have a lot of questions. You might not know this, but there are actually three different types:
- Open, which allows the birth mother to be very involved in the child’s life
- Semi-Open, which allows the birth mother some involvement in the child’s life
- Closed, which allows the birth mother no involvement in the child’s life
If you don’t feel like you are ready to be a parent, adoption might be a good option for you. There is a lot to consider when looking at this option. We will answer all of your questions and will help you determine if adoption is the right choice for you.
If you decide this is the right direction for you and your family, we can refer you to a reputable agency and provide you with support throughout the process. Our goal of Pregnancy Resource Center of Lee County is to make you aware of your options and to provide you assistance along the way.
